“The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.” —Mary Oliver
I started Inner Studio in 2016 to support others in recovering or deepening their Creativity from an inner (emotional and spiritual, not technical or commercial) standpoint. It was originally a beautiful physical space located in a converted historic 1800s industrial mill building in Western Massachusetts, and it served as my art studio, office, and classroom. While there, I held four rounds of my 3-month small group classes centered on The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity (book by Julia Cameron), a follow-up advanced class called Regroup, one open house, two Touch Drawing workshops, and I started working with people individually.
In 2019, I had to move out due to other demands on my time/energy — but, as the name hopefully implies, Inner Studio exists regardless of whether or not I have my own physical space! Plus, who knew a global pandemic would arrive just months after I closed it, and I wouldn’t have been able do my classes or sessions there anyway!
The idea is that I want to help people build a portable, personal internal refuge where the Creative-self can always feel included, nurtured, and cared for… an inner studio.
